The Full Circle Design Competition brandmark was consciously and deliberately designed to convey multiple meanings. Echoing the project’s name, the mark’s outer circle reflects a 360-degree perspective — an inclusive, holistic view of the ideas, people, and histories involved. The circular form also suggests equity among participants in the project and the community at large, emphasizing shared voice and mutual respect rather than hierarchy. Most importantly, the circle honors its profound significance within the Haudenosaunee Confederacy and Indigenous culture more broadly, where it symbolizes unity, life’s cycles, harmony, and the interconnectedness of all creation. Rendered with elegant simplicity, the design finally evokes intersecting pathways — people, histories, and stories converging at a meaningful crossroads, much like the project’s focus: The public space located at Syracuse’s Columbus Circle/Heritage Park.
